Tips for feedback & whistling

The whistling noise is called feedback.Hearing aid feedback is caused by sounds that leave your ear and find their way back into the microphone. Generally speaking, the causes of hearing aid whistling can be summarized into two categories: one is internal hearing aid whistling, and the other is external hearing aid whistling.

Internal hearing aid whistling is the whistling of hearing aids caused by problems inside the machine. It is customarily called internal acoustic feedback.

1.The space inside the hearing aid is too small, causing the components of the machine to be squeezed together, which in turn produces howling. Usually hearing aids with internal acoustic feedback must be turned on for repair;

2.There is a problem with the internal components or wiring arrangement of the hearing aid;

3.due to vibration, the internal components of the hearing aid are misplaced or displaced, resulting in howling;

4.The receiver is not well connected with the sound tube, and it is damp, and water vapor enters the hearing aid, which causes the internal whistling of the hearing aid.

The so-called external hearing aid whistling refers to the whistling caused by non-hearing aid internal factors.

1. Fitting your hearing aid correctly

lf there is too much space between your hearing aid and your ears, then feedback occurs.

2.clean the wax of your ear

lf some wax builds up in your ear canal, it can change the fitting of you ear, which becomes the cause of feedback.

3.Volume down your hearing aid

lf the volume of hearing aid is full, it might be the cause of feedback.

4.change the dome or sound tube

The tube/ dome/ eartips which are used to connect the hearing aid is cracked or broken leads to the feedback.

5.Temporarily loosen your hearing aid

When chewing, taking, putting on a hat, brushing your hair or hugging someone, you can temporary loosen your hearing aid and leads to the feedback.

6.contact with the retailer

lf above issues are not the reason of the whistling in your hearing aid, contact with the retailer or your hearing audiologist.
