Introduction of Medical Gloves

Medical gloves are suitable for non-sterile operations with high-risk contact with blood or body fluids, protective gloves involving the operation of sharps, handling cytotoxic substances and disinfectants. Medical gloves can be divided into medical sterilized gloves and non-sterile medical gloves according to the nature of their work. Non-sterile medical gloves are divided into cleaning and inspection gloves and housekeeping gloves.

Surgical sterilization gloves: sterile single use. It is mainly used for operations requiring high sterility.

Cleaning inspection gloves: clean non-sterile, one-time use. .

Housekeeping gloves: clean and reusable.

Requirements for the use of medical gloves

1. According to the needs of different operations, choose the appropriate type and specifications of medical gloves;

2. When contacting the patient’s blood, body fluids, secretions, excreta, vomit and contaminated items, clean gloves should be worn;

3. Sterile medical gloves should be worn when performing aseptic operations such as surgery and touching the damaged skin and mucous membranes of patients;

4. Disposable medical gloves should be used once and discarded immediately after use.

Precautions for using medical gloves

1. Medical gloves should be changed between patients with different medical care.

2. Take off the medical gloves after the operation is completed, wash hands according to the prescribed procedures and methods. Wearing medical gloves is not a substitute for hand washing, and hand disinfection should be carried out if necessary.

3. If the medical gloves are damaged during operation, they should be replaced in time.

4. When wearing sterile medical gloves, the gloves should be prevented from contamination.
